UPDATE 6/27/13 @ 10:30 a.m.
POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. (WSAZ) – The search for a possible body in the Ohio River in Point Pleasant is expected to resume Thursday morning.

Point Pleasant Police say two people reported seeing a body floating in the river about 9:20 Wednesday night.

Lt. Shawn Ross says the people who reported seeing the body said the person had black hair, was wearing a blue flannel shirt and tennis shoes.

Ross says no one has recently been reported missing in the area.

Lt. Ross says water rescue crews from the Point Pleasant Fire Department, the Gallipolis Fire Department, as well as crews on two barges with AEP, searched the river Wednesday night near the boat dock.

The search was called off a little before 11 p.m. because of heavy rain.

"We had a horrible storm come through,” Ross said. “We had two barges on the water looking. We didn't see anything. For safety of the personnel on the river, we decided to stop the search for the evening."

Police say they aren’t sure what time crews will be back on the river Thursday morning.

"Any time we get a call like this, we have to take everything seriously,” Ross said, “whether it's good or not, whether it happened or it didn't happen, we have to look into it."
