Investigators say the 1,000 counts of child pornography may just be the tip of the iceberg. They also say this is one of the most disturbing and unique child porn cases they've ever seen.
Troopers say the key is to now find out if the pictures were gleaned from the internet or locally generated -- or both.
"Due to the volume of images and videos there will be an ongoing process to determine where, when and the ID of anyone in those images,” said KSP Trooper Michael Murriell. “If there are any local victims we could possibly provide them with any assistance or help that they may need.”
The manager of the apartment complex allowed us inside the apartment where Raasch lived for 30 years before moving to Florida. Inside the apartment we found a camera handbook left on bedroom floor.
The apartment manager told WSAZ.com that Raasch was the first to move into the complex 30 years ago. She says he lived alone, had no family of friends visit, and always kept his shades drawn.
The manager says the pictures seized looked like they were from the 1980's. And she says the children she saw in those pictures were very young, 4 or 5-years-old.
Trooper Murriell says Raasch may face more charges depending on where the investigation leads.
Investigators are now waiting to see Raasch will waive extradition hearing so troopers can bring him back to Kentucky to face the charges.
