CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A series of break-ins is stealing a sense of security for neighbors in Cabell County.
An elderly lady who lives alone says when she returned home on the 2200 block of Route 60 in Milton Monday, thousands of dollars worth of her stuff had been stolen, including her laptop computer, jewelry, and pain medicine.
“I don't want to use the word revenge, but it is revenge,” she said. “I want this person captured."
The next day, it was a similar story a few miles down the road on Oak View Court in Ona.
Janie Sigler says her next-door neighbor was only gone 45 minutes, but when she got back with her kids, two televisions, jewelry, and 500 dollars in cash had been taken.
"She was so nervous,” Sigler said, “and the kids, especially the little boy, he was scared to death.”
She says whoever's responsible likely came and left through the woods to avoid being seen by neighbors.
Sigler says it's disturbing to think that the burglar had to have been watching to know when no one would be at the home.
“I really feel violated that someone would do that," she said.
At this point Sheriff Tom McComas isn't saying whether these break-ins may be connected.
