UPDATE 2/6/13 @ 7 p.m.
CLAY COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- In the town of Clay, there's only one place to get your taxes done. But after a drug bust inside the H&R Block, some have lost confidence in the business.
“We just saw a couple of men in there. It was way after midnight,” Tammy Rose, who works across the street from H&R, said.
At first, Rose said the long hours didn't come as a surprise.
“It's the only place in the county that does taxes, so they're really, really swamped. I thought maybe they were just late hours doing paperwork,” Rose said.
Business owner Crystal Coulter also noticed people inside the office late at night.
“I just thought it was a busy tax time,” Coulter said.
However, when they heard what was really happening, it shed a different light on the situation.
About 10 p.m. Monday, long after business hours, West Virginia State Police were called to the office.
“We knocked on the front door, and they answered," West Virginia State Police Cpl. R.R. Cervera. "We immediately smelled the marijuana they were smoking.”
Inside, they found 57 grams of marijuana and some meth.
Tish Tanner, a secretary, was given a ticket.
Police arrested Clarence Stone, a district manager who now faces drug charges.
The owner told police they weren't even supposed to be in the building.
“Those people have access to your personal information. They could steal your credit or whatever they need to do, so I’d be real concerned about it,” Cervera said.
“I'm sure the employees there have signed confidentiality agreements, but if you are breaking the law by making drugs or selling drugs, what does a signed piece of paper mean to you?” Coulter said.
“Drugs are really bad in this county, but you just don't think of a business being related to that kind of thing,” Rose said.
Many say they hope this drug bust doesn't cause any major problems for the business, but they would like to know if the two employees involved still work there.
The owner is not commenting on the situation.
Stone is out of jail on bond.
Troopers say they got a complaint about drug activity at the office in downtown Clay on Monday evening.
When they arrived, troopers say they found marijuana and a small amount of meth.
Clarence Stone, who is the district manager for H&R Block, was arrested on drug charges. He has already been released from jail.
Tish Tanner, an employee at the office, was given a ticket.
