Summer Crisis Program Offers Free Air Conditioners to Qualifying Neighbors

IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ ) -- In this brutal heat wave, nothing beats ice cold air.

The Summer Crisis Program or HEAP Program is helping with electric bills or vouchers for a free air conditioner.

It's being done in partnership with Community Action:

Here are the guidelines:

  • A physicians statement citing chronic illness is required for applicants under 60 years old.

  • Proof of income for anyone in the household 18 years and older.

  • Current electric bill

  • Must have photo ID and must use voucher within 30 days.

To see if you qualify, offices are located at 120 North Second St.
in Ironton. They can be reached by phone at (740) 532-3140.
