FAYETTE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Three people who attempted to break into a home Friday in the Hico area of Fayette County are wanted, according to information from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department.

It happened just before 2 p.m. Friday along O’Possum Creek Road, about a mile from U.S. 60. A young child who was home alone at the time locked herself in a room and set the family dogs loose to confront the attempted burglars.

According to deputies, two men wearing black hooded sweatshirts attempted to get into the home and fled the area in a green van with a black rear hatch door. It is believed the van could be a Dodge Caravan with the West Virginia plate number 6UR827.
