GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Investigators are calling the death of a Gallia County man suspicious.
Sheriff Joe Browning says John Sheets, 58, was found dead Wednesday in his home in the 1400 block of Wray Road in Green Township.
Sheriff Browning says his office received a call asking that deputies conduct a well being check on Mr. Sheets since he had not been seen in two days.
The caller also said that Mr. Sheets' truck had been located on an adjacent road and appeared to be abandoned.
Browning says that after deputies checked the truck, they went to Sheets’ residence, where they made entry, and found him dead on the floor.
The Sheriff says Mr. Sheets died sometime between Monday and Wednesday.
At this time, they are not releasing his cause of death.
Sheriff Joe Browning tells WSAZ.com they believe that Mr. Sheets lived alone, but did have family and friends in the area that he was close with.
Sheriff Browning says the person who made the call for the well being check made the right decision. "If you notice something that is out of place, that really raises your concern or suspicions, then obviously it's appropriate to call and have that checked on."
This case remains under investigation by the Gallia County Sheriff’s Office and Ohio BCI & I.
