UPDATE 4/18/14 @ 10 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A brutal fight at Huntington High School that was caught on a student's camera ended with one student behind bars facing a felony charge.

Tracey Price, 18, is charged with unlawful assault after police say she got in a fight that went too far.

Another student recorded the episode on a cell phone. According to the criminal complaint, Price slammed the other girl on the ground, punched her in the head, and banged her head on the concrete floor.

The video shows classmates standing by and watching.

After seeing the video, Huntington High parent Jonda Sipple says violence that graphic should not have been allowed to last so long.

“Somebody should have been there,” Sipple said. “Some of the kids should have stepped in. I can't imagine my child sitting back and watching something like that."

A student who witnessed the fight says after about a minute, a couple students did step in and break it up, before the principal arrived and called police.

The fight happened in the student center about 7:15 a.m. Friday.

Sophomore Ericka Budd says there's normally a teacher supervising in the area, but a teacher was not there Friday morning.

“Kids are going to be kids,” Budd said. “They're going to video a fight. They think it's cool, but I don't think it's right."

Cabell County Schools Communications Director Jedd Flowers says a school resource officer is normally there and deals with student fights, but that officer was gone on a student trip Friday morning, which is why the principal called police.

Flowers says the kids who stood by without intervening were not necessarily in the wrong, since getting involved could put them in danger.

Police say the other girl in the fight was picked up afterward by her mother and was not seriously injured.
