FLATWOODS, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Allegations of assault and corruption boiled over Tuesday night during a Flatwoods City Council meeting.

Councilman Joe Gray took up the cause for several city employees, one of whom claims his supervisor assaulted him on the job -- and even threatened to kill him and bury his body in salt and acid.

City records obtained by WSAZ.com indicate Mayor Bobby Crager told council members a police investigation turned up no apparent evidence of wrongdoing.

Gray, though, had other ideas.

"Where he questions whether it's my duty, I feel like it is my duty as a councilman," Gray said. "It's my right as a citizen of this city to question the actions or inactions that the mayor may take."

Gray is running for mayor, and he believes that may be part of the split with Crager.

Crager left without comment after the meeting.
