UPDATE 5/8/14 @ 3:19 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A teen has confessed to writing a threat on the bathroom wall at Huntington High School, and police say it was likely done out of boredom.

The threat was found shortly after lunch Thursday afternoon. Hank Dial with Huntington Police tells WSAZ.com, "Someone wrote on the girls bathroom wall that there would be a shooting at 2 o'clock."

Communications Director Jedd Flowers says the teen confessed and was arrested and will be prosecuted. He also tells WSAZ.com that she will receive punishment from the school.

WSAZ.com has learned the suspect is a 15-year-old female.

Flowers tells WSAZ.com that Huntington Police say they do not believe there was ever a real threat from the teen, but that she wrote the threat on the wall out of boredom.

The school was not placed on lockdown, but students were kept in their classrooms the remainder of the afternoon.

Extra police responded to the school for additional security, as school officials investigated the threat. During the time police were on scene, West Virginia State Police helped cover calls in Huntington.

Flowers tells WSAZ.com that no weapon was found.

An automated call was sent out to parents of Huntington High Students Thursday afternoon.

Many parents showed up at the school Thursday afternoon to take their children home, after getting word of the threat. School officials tell WSAZ.com that leaving early would not be considered as an excused absence.

One parent told us, "I wanted to come and get her out of there. It's not anything you want to play around with. If somebody is stupid enough to write this on the bathroom wall, they're stupid enough to carry it out."

No word on what the girl will be charged with.

The student's name is not being released because she is a juvenile.
