UPDATE 3/16/13 @ 7 p.m.
ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) -- After thousands of dollars of cocaine were discovered in a drug bust at an Ashland house, neighbors have mixed feelings about what was going on under their noses.
Boyd County Sheriff's Deputies and Kentucky State Police raided the house in the 900 block of Prospect Avenue Thursday night, finding 280 grams of white powder cocaine and $1,000 in cash. Deputies say the cocaine is worth about $28,000.
Cathy Gamble just moved to the neighborhood a couple weeks ago.
"I don't like it. I don't like it at all," Gamble said. "It's been pretty quiet since we moved in which I liked a lot. Now that's kind of changed."
Other neighbors said they're concerned because so many children live and play in the neighborhood.
"I have kids, and all these other kids around here don't need to be around that," Jeffery Sizemore, a father of four, said.
"It really scares me," Danielle Laney said. "If something would've went wrong at that drug bust [...], people could've gotten seriously hurt."
Deputies arrested Laurel Vaughn, 36, of Ashland, Denise Carter, 28, of Ashland, and Omar Henry, 35, of Covington, Ky.
Vaughn and Carter were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. Henry was charged with possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence. Deputies say Henry was trying to get rid of the cocaine when they arrived at the house.
Gamble is relieved to hear the bust took the drugs off the street. Her son and daugher-in-law live with her, and they are expecting a baby this month.
"I was scared when all that happened," Gamble said. "You worry about that. But now that they're gone, I think that's going to be okay."
The bust follows a handful of other that have happened in Ashland since mid-February. The others have primarily involved pain pills, like oxycodone.
