CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Two Mingo County teachers and a teacher's aide are facing charges.
The Charleston Gazette reports that 47-year-old James Hiram Keatley II has been indicted on three counts of third-degree sexual abuse and one count of battery. The Matewan Middle School math teacher and coach was suspended with pay in December after State Police began investigating allegations that he groped, kissed and made inappropriate comments to two female students.
The newspaper also reports that 53-year-old special education teacher Tina Grace and 60-year-old aide Donna Hurst were indicted after a state investigation into allegations that they used inappropriate disciplinary methods on special-needs students. Grace is charged with two counts of child abuse and one count of battery. Hurst is charged with one count of battery. Both have pleaded not guilty.
