CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Three men arrested in a Charleston-area car lot are facing charges in connection with what the government calls a $2 million health care fraud scheme.
According to a criminal complaint, the three were arrested earlier this month on charges that they attempted to bilk Medicare and Medicaid.
Three suspects have been charged with fraud, conspiracy and aiding and abetting for their alleged roles in the scheme.
The complaint states that the men are believed to be connected with a so-called false-front provider scheme. That involves someone setting up bogus companies to file fraudulent Medicaid and Medicare claims.
Federal investigators said they discovered five fake companies set up to do just that.
