UPDATE: One Dead in Tractor-Trailer Crash on I-77, Name Released

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Investigators have released the name of the person who was killed in an accident along Interstate 77 in Kanawha County.

West Virginia State Police tell WSAZ.com Ivan Konarnytskyy was heading north near the Cheylan exit about 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Konarnytskyy lost control of his tractor trailer on the wet roads, crashed through a concrete barrier, crossed the southbound lanes and landed on some railroad tracks below the highway.

Konarnytskyy was 31 years old and from Elmwood Park, Illinois.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- One lane remains closed on Interstate 77 North this morning following last night's deadly wreck involving a tractor-trailer near the Cabin Creek exit.

Dispatchers told WSAZ.com that the right lane of I-77 North in the vicinity of the crash will remain closed temporarily while crews work to clear the scene.

The name of the person killed in the wreck has not been released.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A person has died in the tractor-trailer crash near the Cabin Creek exit on Interstate 77, Metro 911 dispatchers said late Wednesday night.

The semi left the roadway and overturned just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver was reported trapped in the wreckage, but it was not immediately known if the driver was the fatal victim.

Only the semi was involved in the crash.

The slow northbound lane of I-77 was closed in the area as the investigation was underway.

We have a crew at the scene.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A tractor-trailer crashed and left the roadway in the northbound lanes of Interstate 77 near the Cabin Creek exit, and rescue crews are working to free the driver from the wreckage, Metro 911 dispatchers said late Wednesday night.

The extent of the driver's injuries was unknown.

The crash was reported just before 11 p.m. Wednesday near the Cabin Creek exit. The slow lane on the northbound side is closed.
