UPDATE 2/21/14 @ 4 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – West Virginia State Police are still on the hunt for a man wanted for possession of child pornography.

Troopers say Richard Garettson, 45, is believed to be in possession of multiple guns and is considered dangerous.

"There's also some indicators that show the suspect is in the possession of multiple firearms, and being not married and no known children kind of concerns us a little bit that he may hurt himself or someone else," Cpl. Robert J. Boggs said. "We certainly hope that's not the case."

This investigation started when troopers served warrants on Garettson on Jan. 24 at his apartment. Since that time, he has not gotten back with State Police after several requests.

"Back in January of this year, we started some investigating on an IP address that was identified as in possession and making available suspected child pornography," Cpl. Boggs said. "Through that investigation, we tracked the IP address to an apartment, and the apartment is in the name of Mr. Garettson."

"He's the only one that lives there," Cpl. Boggs said. "We obtained a search warrant. (We) searched his residence, and found what we were looking for."

A little more than a week after that search, troopers say Garettson resigned from his job, a position he held for more than 20 years.

Investigators also learned Garettson had not paid rent for his residence at Country Club Apartments, and hadn't been seen for some time.

"All indications are he went to work every day," Cpl. Boggs said. "Great worker. Neighbors never had a problem with him paying his rent. Not a trouble maker. No real arrest history."

Troopers are now sending out a warning to everyone that if you see Garettson, do not approach him, just call 911.

"My main concern here is I don't want someone to approach this individual who feels desperate, or another officer pull him over for some remedial traffic stop, and him not know the difference, and place themselves in extreme risk," Cpl. Boggs said. "We just don't want that."

Investigators say Garettson is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs 230 pounds. He has green eyes, wears glasses and has peppery-white hair.

It's believed that he could still be in the Huntington area. However, there have also been reports of his vehicle around Clarksburg, W.Va.

Investigators say Garettson also has been known to live in the South Point, Ohio, area.

Garettson drives a gold 2003 Dodge 1500 Quad Cab 4X4 with after-market rims and a silver brush guard. The truck has a West Virginia custom license plate: ROLOVR.

If you see Garettson, you're urged to call police or your local 911 center.
