UPDATE: Fourth Suspect Accused of Stealing War Medals from Deceased Soldier's Family Arrested

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A fourth suspect has been arrested in a burglary that included the theft of a deceased veteran's war medals, according to information from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.

Alesha Goodwin, 27, was arrested Wednesday and charged with daytime burglary. She was arrested by Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies and members of the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation.

The burglary occurred Jan. 1 at a home in the 4000 block of Spencer Road near Clendenin, W.Va. Deputies say the medals were awarded to the victim's deceased daughter. She was killed in Iraq.

Two men and another woman also were arrested in the burglary.

Deputies hope to recover more property soon. Deputies also plan to interview more of those involved and additional witnesses.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va (WSAZ) -- Sheriff Deputies arrested another suspect in connection with a burglary in Clendenin, W.Va.

Deputies say Marty Atwell broke into a home and stole a refrigerator, a stove, and a wooden door Jan. 1. They also say Atwell stole a Purple Heart and Bronze Star from the home.

Deputies say the medals were awarded to the victim's deceased daughter. She was killed in Iraq.

Two others were arrested in connection to the burglary. Billy Woods Jr. and Paulette Dickey were arrested on Jan. 4.

All three have been charged with daytime burglary. Deputies believe a fourth person may be involved.

Atwell will be back in court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 17.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A home in Kanawha County has become the target of crime for the fourth time in a few short weeks.

Billy Woods Jr. and Paulette Dickey have been charged with daytime burglary.

Deputies say they took a bronze star and purple heart medal that was awarded to the victim's daughter, who was a soldier killed in Iraq.

Woods and Dickey are also accused of stealing furniture, an ATV and other items.

Deputies believe two other people are involved in the thefts. The suspects may be in a white Chevy truck. The truck was caught on camera at a nearby gas station with a handcrafted door that was stolen from the house in the back.

They are also looking for a dark blue Chevy Blazer with a missing front grill.
