GALLIA COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A woman who was arrested on drug charges earlier in the week, has been placed on administrative leave at the school where she was teaching.
Kari Labello, 40, of Gallia County, was arrested Sunday in the 13000 block of River Road in Athens, Ohio.
The Athens County Sheriff's Office says deputies were responding to a traffic complaint, when they found 13 pounds of marijuana in a garage.
Curtis W. Hinds, 46, of Athens, and Labello were arrested.
Both were charged with cultivation of marijuana, and trafficking in marijuana.
Labello is an employee at Gallia County Local Schools.
In a statement, Superintendent Wendy Halley said, "Confidentiality requirements prevent me from commenting upon or discussing any allegations of employee misconduct. In the event disciplinary action is taken against an employee by the Board, further information will be disclosed. However, I can say that anytime the district is confronted with allegations relating to the safety and welfare of students, the allegations are taken seriously, thoroughly investigated and measures are taken to ensure that students are safe."
According to a release, Labello was placed on paid administrative leave after the arrest.
Sheriff Patrick Kelly says the discovery was made Sunday after deputies went to a residence in the 13000 block of River Road to investigate a parking complaint.
Kelly says the marijuana grow was found in a garage.
Besides the 13 pounds of marijuana, deputies seized $6,320 in cash.
Curtis W. Hinds, 46, of Athens and Kari Labello, 40, of Gallipolis were arrested.
Both are charged with cultivation of marijuana, and trafficking in marijuana.
