BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A tractor-trailer driver was cited for not having proof of insurance and disregarding a traffic signal after a crash Tuesday between a semi and an SUV on Ky. 180 -- near the junction of Interstate 64, according to a Kentucky State Police news release.
The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. The tractor-trailer was coming off an I-64 exit ramp when it occurred.
A Catlettsburg woman driving the SUV and a 3-year-old passenger were taken to King's Daughters Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Both were treated and released.
Alcohol is not suspected as a contributing factor.
The accident happened about 3:30 p.m. at Exit 185 of Interstate 64 in Boyd County. That's in the area of Cannonsburg.
Kentucky State Police tell WSAZ.com that the woman who was driving the semi got off the exit and lost control, going through a red light.
Her semi crashed into an SUV.
The woman and child in the SUV were taken to KDMC with non-life threatening injuries.
There was no word on their conditions.
The driver of the semi was cited for disregarding a traffic control device and failure to produce insurance.
No names have been released.
