UPDATE 12/15/11 @ 5:20 p.m.
HUNTINGTON, Wv (WSAZ) -- Some heavy duty lifting was required in an armed robbery Thursday.

A one hundred pound safe was the focus of a home invasion in Huntington.

Police say some luck and quick work has two of four suspected armed robbers behind bars.

“They held a gun to my head,” Nathan Staley said.

Staley said there were five young adults gathered in his rear 7th Ave.
garage apartment around 2am, when four unknown men came in unexpectedly.

He said with guns drawn the men began to rob Staley and his friends, with a combination safe as the prime target.

"They tried to take the safe and couldn't get it out the door, they took my TV down the street, dropped and broke it," Staley said. "We didn’t think the guns were real until the police told us yes, they were real, and fully loaded.”

Police said as the robbers fled, one of the victims ran next door to the Speedway station and saw a police cruiser and two officers. Then police said a chase began.

“They were able to chase down and corral two of the suspects," Detective Ryan Bentley said. "And they found two handguns on the ground nearby."

Tanner Johnson and Edward Stephens were the two home invasion suspects police caught. Both are now jailed on burglary and robbery charges.

Staley said no one in the apartment knew the home invaders.

He also said the safe was empty.

Detective Bentley gives great credit to the officers who pursued and arrested two of the four felony suspects.

He said he feels confident the other two will be found and arrested in short order.

If convicted, the prison sentence for the burglary charge is one to ten years. The sentence for armed robbery is ten years to life.
