MAGOFFIN COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A Magoffin County man charged with murder and DUI has pleaded guilty to lesser charges.
Kentucky State Police say in May of 2011, 23-year-old Trenton Tackett was driving under the influence of pills on US-460 in Magoffin County and hit another car.
Anita Back, 38, died at the scene. Her five year old daughter suffered serious injuries.
Tackett took a plea deal and pleaded guilty to manslaughter and two counts of assault.
The other charges were dismissed.
Tackett was sentenced to ten years in prison.
Kentucky State Police say Trenton Tackett was under the influence of pills when he crossed the center line and hit another car.
It happened back in May on U.S. 460 in Magoffin County.
38-year-old Anita Back was killed in the crash.
Her five year old daughter was seriously injured.
Tackett is charged with murder, assault, and DUI charges. He plead not guilty.
Police say Trenton Tackett of Staffordsville was driving westbound on U.S. 460 when his SUV crossed the center-line, striking Anita Back's pickup truck.
Back, from Seitz, Kentucky, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Magoffin County Coroner Mark Jenkins.
Tackett was taken to Paul B. Hall Medical Center for his injuries.
Back was 38 years old.
It happened between 10:30 and 11 p.m. On U.S. 460 in the Rockhouse community of Magoffin County.
One person died and three others were taken to a local hospital.
No other information is being released at the time. The Magoffin County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
