UPDATE: Violent Home Invasion Reported in Cabell County; Search for Suspect Underway

CABELL COUNTY, WVa. (WSAZ) --- Raymond Hall is nursing a knock on his head, after someone came knocking on his door, Thursday night.

"The guy said is car broke down and needed some water." says Hall. "When I turned around, he got me in a choke hold."

The home invasion happened in the 3000 block of 8th Street Road. Troopers tell WSAZ.com the suspect got away, but not without a fight.

"There was a little bit of a struggle, whenever he was giving them the money." says Trooper Shane Smith. "The suspect struck the victim with his own pistol."

"He asked me if I had a gun and grabbed it from the drawer" says Hall. The 79 year old says he did the only thing he could to protect himself.
"I grabbed his privates, you know, and I told him I'd tear the damn things off . That's when he hit me with the gun."

The suspect stole the man's wallet and took off. State police with the help of the Barboursville K-9 unit searched for the suspect, but they believe he escaped in a car.

Anyone with information about the robbery in the 3000 block of 8th Street Road are asked to call West Virginia State Police.

CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- State Police are on the scene of a violent home invasion robbery.

The robbery happened in the 3000-block of 8th Street Road.

Troopers tell WSAZ.com the suspect approached an elderly man and asked for some water because he said his car had broken down.

Troopers say the suspect then forced his way into the victim's home and got into a fight with him.

During the fight, troopers say the suspect stole a gun from the victim and hit him in the head with it several times.

The suspect then stole the man's wallet and took off.

State Police are searching the area for the suspect.

Barboursville Police have brought out a bloodhound to help in the search.
