Woman Critical Following Paintsville Shooting

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- Kentucky State Police say a woman is in critical condition following a shooting in Paintsville Thursday evening.

The victim was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington.

Troopers say Jeffrey Irvine, 43, of Paintsville, fired a gun into a residence hitting the woman.

Irvine was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. No word on a motive for the shooting. The name of the woman has not been released.

Irvine was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
