Worker Hurt in Mine Accident

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A worker has been hurt in a mine accident near the Kanawha - Boone county line.

It happened about 11 a.m. Friday at the Newtown Energy Eagle Mine.

Miners' Health Safety and Training Spokeswoman, Leslie Fitzwater tells, the worker was hit in the back with a cable.

He was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

There is no word on what caused the accident.

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A worker is being taken to the hospital after he was hit by a cable at a mine in eastern Kanawha County.

Dispatchers say it happened about 11 a.m. Friday at the Kanawha Eagle Mine in Winifrede.

The accident happened underground and the man is being taken to the guard shack so he can be loaded into an ambulance.
