UPDATE 4/10/13 @ 10:55 a.m.
SOUTH POINT, Ohio. (WSAZ) -- A convicted bank robber is back in jail after being picked up by police at a motel in South Point, Ohio early Wednesday morning.

Sergeant Lenny Abrams with the South Point Police Department says Tony Abercrombie, 46, of Ashland was arrested without incident at 4:40 a.m. Wednesday.

Abrams says the U.S. Marshals Service had a warrant for his arrest.

Michael Blackburn with the U.S Marshals Service in Ashland tells WSAZ.com that Abercrombie was wanted on a supervised release violation.

In January 2002, Abercrombie was sentenced to 12-and-a-half years in a federal prison after pleading guilty to robbing the Firstar Bank in Meta, Ky. in June 2001.

Abercrombie was arrested in Mingo County about an hour after the robbery as he was returning the rental car he used during the bank robbery.

Part of his sentence included three years supervised release once he was released from federal prison.

Federal prison records show that Abercrombie was released from prison back in December.

Blackburn says that Abercrombie is being transferred to the Carter County Detention Center from the Lawrence County Jail.

Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies assisted in Abercrombie’s arrest Wednesday morning.
