CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- The name of a man killed in a violent crash Wednesday night has been released.

It happened about 8 p.m. in the 6400 block of Ky. 3 near Catlettsburg.

Investigators say Wilks' SUV went off the road hitting several mailboxes and culverts. The SUV then flipped multiple times before eventually landing on its side.

Deputies say they found a car seat in the back of the SUV and searched a nearby creek, but did not find anyone.

Deputies say wet roads from all the rain appear to be to blame for the crash..

UPDATE 2/29/12 @ 10:15 p.m.
CATLETTSBURG, Ky. (WSAZ) -- A man died Wednesday night in the crash in the 6400 block of Ky. 3, Boyd County Sheriff's Sgt. Carl Hall tells WSAZ.com.

The accident happened when an SUV went off the road and traveled about 300 feet, flipping several times. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released, pending notification of his family.

The accident was reported about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday. The roadway was closed for more than two hours, opening back up about 10:30 p.m.

A child car seat was in the back of the SUV, so first responders were checking a nearby creek to make sure no one else could have been ejected from the SUV. Investigators believe, though, that the man was the only occupant.
