UPDATE: DUI-Related Crash Sends One to Hospital; Kanawha Turnpike Re-Opens

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Kanawha Turnpike (U.S. 60) has since re-opened near the intersection of Chestnut Street, according to Metro 911.


ORIGINAL STORY
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A DUI-related crash between a truck and an SUV late Friday night has shut down the Kanawha Turnpike (U.S. 60) near the intersection of Chestnut Street, Metro 911 dispatchers say.

Police tell WSAZ.com that a green Ford SUV was making a legal right turn when a silver truck ran a red light and hit the SUV.

The driver of the truck is charged with DUI. The person taken to the hospital was complaining of pain, but it is unclear how severe the injuries are.

The crash was reported just before 10:30 p.m.

The South Charleston Fire Department was among first responders at the scene.
