UPDATE: Man Loses Leg in Motorcycle Crash on Corridor G

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- All lanes of U.S. 119 (Corridor G) are re-open late Tuesday night following the serious motorcycle crash earlier that evening.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man involved Tuesday night in the motorcycle accident on U.S. 119 has lost a leg, police say.

Officers say the man was riding his motorcycle down Corridor G (U.S. 119) just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. He lost control of the bike and hit a sign near the intersection of Sherwood Forest Road.

Investigators say it appears the man was speeding and driving in the middle of the two lanes before the accident.

The man's name has not been released.

The passing lane of U.S. 119 South re-opened about 9:45 p.m., but the slow lane remained closed.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- U.S. 119 South is closed Tuesday night in Charleston after a serious motorcycle accident.

The crash happened about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Sherwood Forest Road.

Dispatchers say the motorcycle rider has been seriously hurt.

Dispatchers are asking for drivers to avoid the area if at all possible.
