For Reverend Lindsay Thorp, reading Becky White’s weekly poems is a joy.
In fact, members of Kenova United Methodist Church get a new poem in their program each Sunday.
Thorp said “she has a ministry of writing poems.”
White was born cerebral palsy... but that stopped her from writing her faith based poems of inspiration for others.
Becky says her faith in Christ is the driving force behind her talent... and once you're on her prayer list... you're on it forever.
Kip Smith said “Becky white to me is a true christian... true inspiration to everyone who knows her.:
Most describe Becky as a prayer warrior and Christian poet loved by so many.

Becky inspired me regularly during the 8 years I was her pastor. She loves life, she loves everyone unconditionally, she loves the Lord and his church, and she is always in ministry, whether it is a call to encourage or a poem to inspire. She, is more than a Home Town Hero, she is hero of the faith in North Carolina and wherever her prayers and poetry go. God bless you, Becky.

I know Becky and no one deserves this award more than she. I attented the same church as Becky and was in Sunday School with her. She really has a heart to save lost souls, and I too, go past her often when she is out waving and I get a smile on my face when I see her and she makes my day brighter, just knowing what she goes thru to go out and wave and smile at people to make their day brighter. Love you Becky. GOD BLESS YOU

Becky, you've always been a hero to all of us who know you, but it's nice you've been formally recognized. Keep up the good work girlfriend!

Becky is as fine an example of a Christian as you'll ever meet. She encourages me to attend church, she calls to see how I'm doing, she asks my opinion on her poetry, she sets by the side of the road waving to all passerbys as they go to and from work and school, and she struggles with her physical disabilities and pain daily. Everyone that knows Becky admires her. What a wonderful choice for Home Town Hero!

Becky never gives up on anyone. She works so hard to win souls for Christ. She is truly an inspiration. Becky is loved by everyone because she loves all people. If you are not coming to church, she will call you often to remind you. She is a great lady.
