PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WSAZ) -- This is a story about overcoming the odds, making a dream come true and inspiring others.

Amy Conley is a choir teacher in Eastern Kentucky who is hitting the right notes with students and the community.

"At seven months old, she was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy," Marcus Conley, the husband of Amy, said.

Marcus Conley says his wife beat the odds and went on to get her masters degree in music. She went on to fulfill her dream of leading the choir at Johnson Central High School.

"It's like my dream," Amy Conley said.

Through hard work and dedication, Conley transformed the school's choir. The choir is now performing in venues like Rupp Arena in Lexington.

Conley is using music to inspire her young students, who might soon be singing at the Sweet Sixteen statewide basketball tournament.

I want to say Thank You Amy for all your hard work. My son Chris is truly inspired by your teaching and we all look up to you for your dedication. You have changed our sons life. There isn't a night that goes by without him saying how much he is learning in chorus. He was the first male student in 12 years to make the all state Ky Choir singing tenor. Amy, Thanks again.

Amy was my intern teacher when she first began teaching. You could not find a brighter more eager instructor. She cares about the students and adults around her. It's not the glory for her she strives for but for her students. She is a shining example as a teacher and a christian. She is one of those teachers that as you sit down with her to talk over how to handle the classroom, she is all ears and eager to learn. Then she puts into practice what she's learned. I can imagine she was a joy to have in class as well. She's one of those that looks for the other person first. If you watch the musical group "4 the King", you notice she does the music, but you rarely hear her sing, she plays and directs but leaves the rest to others. She is a shing witness for the Lord. She's a wonderful person as well as teacher.Once she's in your life you don't want to lose that bright spot. We miss her in Lawrence Co but are glad she has such success in Johnson with her music. YEAH AMY! Love ya!
