IRONTON, Ohio (WSAZ) -- High gasoline prices, rising food costs and outrageous daycare expense are enough to bring some people to their knees.
One family, though, is saving major costs thanks to their Hometown Hero they call Mom. Linda Faulkner works nearly 24 hours a day to save her family money.
On her way to work each day, Aimee Clay drops her kids off with Mom. It's quality daycare that doesn't cost her a dime.
"It helps us out tremendously, daycare costs $90 to $100 a week," Aimee said.
Linda Faulkner keeps all three of her daughter’s four children, plus a few other children at little to no cost to them. It's a challenging job she wouldn't trade for the world.
“I know they need help, and my family helped me when I was young and needed it,” Linda said.
But caring for kids, including her new granddaughter, isn't Linda's only day job. She then goes to work overnights at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center to pay her bills.
“When do you sleep?” Carrie Cline asked.
“Here and there, but I wouldn't sleep knowing those grandchildren were with a stranger," Linda replied. "At least this way I know they’re being fed and taken care of."
Aimee said Linda continually amazes her.
“She’s Wonder Woman. I don’t know how she does it. I couldn’t do it."
