CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Cathryn Harris attends a lot of corporate-type meetings.
But the information she teaches could just save their lives.
"Everything that they learn about the business, they can apply at home and that's where you have most of the fire fatalities," Cathryn Harris said.
Harris goes around to any company that needs her help with the program, Life Safe.
"The seminars give information to participants about medical conditions at work, how they treat people who have heart attacks mainly how to evacuate a building in the case of a fire how to shelter in place," Harris said.
"Knowledge is the best tool we have to fight fires and the best fires we have are the ones that never happen life save stands for prevention and catherine has been a driving force for Life Safe," Dave Dodrill with the Emergency Planning Committee said.
It's something she has been doing for a quarter century, even though Cathryn doesn't get paid to be here.
"I'm afraid it wouldn't be without her Cathryn is really the single driving force behind the program," Carol Nolte with the WV Fire Marshal's Office said.
"People make a difference one person at a time and this is just a difference I am trying to make," Harris said.
It's a dedication that is keeping the Kanawha Valley safe one business at a time.
