Update at 5:30 p.m. Monday
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- It was the talk of the town nearly three years ago when Hollywood came to Huntington to recreate the story of the Marshall University plane crash and its impact on the community.
Now, props and costumes from the movie will be on display. The unveiling is scheduled Tuesday. We have a sneak peek of the exhibit and what the public won't see that's stored away at the university.
Sam Stanley said the public will see items, including a costume worn by actress Kate Marra.
"They'll (also) see a lot of stories in the newspaper from (when the crash occurred) and headlines," he said.
The exhibit also describes actors' roles in the movie. But all of that is just a snapshot of what's hidden in a locked room at the university's Special Collections Department.
Lisle Brown is an archivist at Marshall and went to Warner Bros. Pictures' warehouse before filming began to pick out the perfect props and clothing for "We Are Marshall." Recently, Hollywood gave many of the props back to the university as a gift.
"It was a free gift, no strings attached," Brown said. "We keep it here cause we can house it."
The unveiling of the public exhibit will be at noon Tuesday at the Herd Hall of Fame Cafe in downtown Huntington.

How is this making money off of anyone?I think it is nice and should stay in Huntington. They should put it in a trophy case in the athletic building, to stay there forever. Especially since Warner Brothers didn't charge Marshall for it. How many schools have had a movie made about them?I bet stuff from the Rudy movie is somewhere displayed on the Notre Dame campus.Marshall needs to make room for it someplace.
