HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Matt Walls, a freshman guard on the 2007-08 Thundering Herd basketball team, has decided to withdraw from Marshall University for personal reasons.

Walls, a Georgetown, Ky., native, was the Herd's sixth leading scorer (7.2 ppg) and ranked second in 3-point field goals (36) last season. He is not looking to play at another school at this time.

"We appreciate the contributions made to the program last season by Matt," Marshall head coach Donnie Jones said. "He is a great young man and we wish him the best of luck in the future."

  • Mark Snyder Press Conference Quotes
We went out on Sunday and started our prep for Cincinnati, implemented our game plan and yesterday was a day our kids usually had off but it seemed like the change was good, I thought our practice was sharp and we got some things done. It was a little better than last Tuesday's preparation day. We're very excited about coming back home.
