No Midnight Madness for WVU Men's Basketball Team

Posted: 5:59 PM Oct 4, 2012
Reporter: The Associated Press

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - The West Virginia men's basketball team is skipping the traditional Midnight Madness festivities this year.

Instead of welcoming the new season along with other high-profile college programs on Oct. 12, the Mountaineers will start practice a day later on Oct. 13 and conduct a 40-minute scrimmage a week later.

Admission to the scrimmage is free. It starts at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the WVU Coliseum.

Other festivities will include the introduction of the men's players and staff, a speech from coach Bob Huggins and an autograph session afterward on the Coliseum floor. A highlight video of the 2012 season will be shown, and there will be performances from the Mountaineer pep band, cheerleaders and dance team.

The Mountaineers are coming off their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
