LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A Fayette County grand jury has indicted a former University of Kentucky men's basketball player on sodomy and sexual abuse charges involving an underage girl.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/NGikG9 ) reports 25-year-old Michael James Porter was charged in the indictment Monday with six counts of third-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Porter was arrested May 15 after a Lexington police sting operation. Court documents indicate Porter and the girl met at church functions, where he was a group leader. Porter previously pleaded not guilty in district court. His arraignment will be Aug. 24.

The acts are alleged to have occurred from November 2009 to April 2010, when the girl was 14 and 15 years old. Porter played at Kentucky for three seasons, from 2006 to 2009.
