A three letter word is starting to hit and hard. Flu has arrived in our region.

Doctors at Ashland Children's Clinic say they're seeing a lot of kids with flu. They're also seeing children with pneumonia, an infection in the lungs, and strep throat.

Doctors at Summersville Pediatrics have a number of cases of strep throat. They're also seeing children with pharyngitis, or sore throat, that is not strep. The doctor says these are most likely caused by viruses such as adenovirus and coxsackie virus. They're also seeing a lot more children testing positive for flu -- about a handful of children each day.

At Rebecca Schoettle Pediatrics in Portsmouth, Dr. Schoettle is seeing a lot of respiratory problems. She's seeing children with croup. That causes a deep, bark-like cough. She's also seeing children with strep throat and also RSV -- respiratory syncytial virus. The best advice she can give from avoiding sickness is wash your hands, don't drink after each other and spray Lysol around the house.

Doctors at University Pediatrics in Huntington are also seeing a lot of flu and also RSV. Viral illnesses are still around too.

At the Jackson Area Family Practice and Pediatrics in Jackson, Ohio, doctors are seeing flu and strep throat.
