CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Everything seems to be making a bigger dent in our wallets today. But there's one way you can help keep costs down: help police catch an accused shoplifter before he strikes again.

The Charleston Police Department has named the man in the pictures below one of Charleston's Most Wanted.

The surveillance video & pictures are from earlier this week at the Inspired store at the Charleston Town Center.

Detectives say the suspect stole two pairs of jeans worth nearly three hundred dollars.

When the clerk tried to get them back, police say the suspect pushed her and then ran away.

Here's some information about the suspect:
HEIGHT: 5' 5"
AGE: Mid 20s
WEIGHT: Approx. 140 lbs.
HAT: Red New York Yankees logo on front
NICKNAME: He may go by the nickname "White Boy."

Investigators say he was also with two other men -- who you can see in the pictures.

Call the Detective Davis at the Charleston Police Department at (304) 348-6480 if you have any information about the suspect.

the store should buy better video equipment and how do you identify anyone by the top of their head. get real

I can't believe that there are people defending stealing because they think the item is overpriced. I think $300.00 for a pair of jeans is rediculous too, however my answer is simply not to buy them. Using the logic of some posters here it would be fine to steal a Rolls Royce because it's overpriced too. What a bunch of morons.

Most shoplifters/theives dont just steal 2 pairs of $150 jeans they are part of shoplifting rings. They are usually stealing to support a drug habit and 7 out of 10 of the idiots have drugs on them when they get caught, which means more jail time. A lot of them also have large amounts of money on them which can be kept and put into the DARE programs. Shoplifting is a serious problem and gets very little jail time (which needs to change). And if you get caught on video (and trust me there are cameras every where) you can have a warrant issed for your arrest. I've seen a PTZ camera that could read the size label on the back of a pair of Levis from across a large dept store. If it does not belong to you keep your freaking fingers off of it! Get a job and buy the $150 jeans if you need them that bad, your crack ravaged body most likely wont look that good in them anyway. If you see a shoplifter go to the service desk and report them. Some companies will issue a gift card as a thank you

"Hey White Boy, go steal dem jeans fo us, dawg!"

YOU GO WHITE BOY!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 25, 2008 at 09:00 PM
$300 DOLLARS FOR 2 PAIR OF JEANS!!! LOL I WOULD HAVE STOLE THEM TO.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 25, 2008 at 08:59 PM
You bunch of dumb nitwits need a math lesson. If 2 pair of pants equal 300 dollars...guess what...they're not 300 dollars a piece...they're 150 dollars a piece. It is no wonder people in other states think people from West Virginia are stupid. They can't do simple division!

Posted by: MIKE on May 25, 2008 at 02:58 PM
Wonder if he will change it from White Boy to Jail Bird when hes caught?

Posted by: Hey Opal on May 25, 2008 at 09:03 AM
They do not know who this guy is. They only circulate the information they have. Say, Earlier in the day you say your friend from highschool and he was wearing a Yankees hat and was going into the bank. Later that day you find out it was robbed by a guy in that same hat you saw earlier. Get the point!!!!!!!! Now stop it!!! You are making an idiot of yourself.

Crimes start out small then thay grow to bigger and more dangerus crimes that sooner or later end up getting people hurt or even killed.so stop them befor thay get started.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 24, 2008 at 05:41 PM
There are bigger things going on, but if they can't catch the guy the have a video of who can they catch?

Posted by: me on May 24, 2008 at 07:38 AM
It is not right to steal something just because it cost too much. But I do agree with Chuck, I think there are much bigger crimes being committed around here and yet the police waste their time on these idiots!!

Posted by: Opal on May 23, 2008 at 10:52 PM
You know, I most definitely agree that stealing is wrong. But for some reason part of me can't help but agree with "cheap". Who pays $150 for a pair of blue jeans?!? Who would want to? They're denim pants. The stupidity of some people just amazes me. Also, another comment: Why does WSAZ always print what the perpetrator was wearing at the time of the incident? I mean, really, how hard would it be to ditch the New York Yankees hat? (Or blue hoodie, or green Marshall polo, or whatever.) Also...he may go by the nickname "White Boy"? haha WTH? It's a nickname...anybody could call anybody White Boy. I just called my son that and he looked at me like I had lost it. Anyway...just a question, I don't mean to start WW3 on the website or anything. LOL I hope Charleston's Most Wanted is off the streets soon and I hope the store gets their exorbitantly priced jeans back soon.

Anyone who steals is a "thief" that's the bottom line. You don't justify illegal actions based on your own skewed sense of right or wrong. BTW $150 jeans are not that expensive, buy them or dont but dont make common thieves into heroes or role models.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 23, 2008 at 06:59 PM
We are also better because we use actual English instead of words like stold that do not exist. I'm guessing Anonymous at 1:39 is one of the guys in the picture.

Posted by: carrie on May 23, 2008 at 05:08 PM
yes $300.00 is a lot of money for 2 pairs of jeans.no it is not ok to steal them eather.but you said there was 2 other men with he can you tell there name's.

Posted by: Scott on May 23, 2008 at 04:17 PM
Anyone ostentatious enough to buy (or sell) $300 jeans is an idiot, anyway.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 23, 2008 at 01:39 PM
you people are so much better than some guy that stold out of an over priced store. yea i bet you are.

Posted by: Chuck on May 23, 2008 at 12:40 PM
Shop lifting puts a person on "Charleston's most wanted"...really? Stealing overpriced jeans is a wrong thing to do, but are these really the biggest problems that city has to worry about?

Posted by: booger on May 23, 2008 at 11:59 AM
I'm guessing "white boy" is the caucasion in the pics? Isn't "boy" a racist remark?

Posted by: Daryl on May 23, 2008 at 08:54 AM
Hey dumb cheap! Real bone head idea, if ya' can't buy them steal them. If the guys shoes or jacket is better than yours steal them too. I was taught if you want it, GET A JOB and purchase it!

Posted by: BillB on May 23, 2008 at 06:05 AM
to Cheap: I hope you are trying to be funny. Because something cost to much is not a reason to steal.

Posted by: sum guy on May 23, 2008 at 05:22 AM
Man. I wonder what the 'ol WV state tax would be on $300? Probably cost him $50 just to drive there.

Posted by: L.P on May 23, 2008 at 12:56 AM
for your comment "Cheap"....there are some people in this world that can afford $300 jeans, so if you cant then go somewhere else and get your jeans... I HATE people that steal. So I guess since you think that its fine to steal then you must be a shoplifter yourself huh? I work as a loss prevention associate and I am gonna tell you again I HATE people who steal!!!

Posted by: cheap on May 22, 2008 at 11:01 PM
