UPDATE: 9/11/06: Gary Wayne Mullins was arrested last week. He was identified in the surveillance pictures. Your tips also helped catch Mullins a year ago when police say he was going door-to-door targeting seniors.

AUGUST 22, 2006 -- He knew his victim's name, but police say all the suspect wanted was his money.

The Charleston Police Department has named the man shown in the security camera pictures as one of Charleston's Most Wanted. We have pictures of him from earlier this month at the GoMart on Washington Street West. Police say the suspect asked an elderly man for a ride. He agreed because he thought the man knew his son. The suspect then offered to walk the man's money into the gas station, but never paid. The two left the gas station and when the suspect got out of the car, the man noticed his wallet was gone.

"It's another case of taking advantage of the elderly. This man did not recall the suspect and the supect had information about his life that he used to get closer to him and when the situation presented itself he stole the man's wallet and ran," said Sergeant Aaron James with the Charleston Police Department.

The victim describes the suspect as a white male, about 6 feet tall, 250 pounds with a pot belly. He has dark hair and a mustache. Police say he was wearing a gray sleeveless shirt, denim shorts, tennis shoes and sunglasses.

If you have any information about this incident, call the Charleston Police Department at (304) 348-6480 or 348-6400. Detective Autumn Davis is handling the investigation.
