UPDATE: 5/29/07: A woman wanted across the country on charges of theft and stolen identity was recently arrested in Indiana.

Lizzette Garvin was picked up earlier this month after she was featured on America's Most Wanted. She had warrants out for her arrest from New York to California.

Here in our region, Garvin and another woman are accused of stealing purses from the YMCA in Charleston -- and immediately using the victims' credit cards at area stores.

A similar incident happened at the YMCA in Ashland, but police never officially linked Garvin and the other woman to that crime.

Right now, the other woman has not been identified or caught. Call the Charleston Detectives at (304) 348-6480 if you have any information about her.

Charleston detectives got a tip about the Mississippi case from this web story. If you have any information about the woman pictured in this story, you are urged to call the Charleston Police at the number below.

The crime happened December 27 at the Charleston YMCA. Police say the suspects cut the locks off lockers in the women's locker room and stole three purses.

Take a look at the pictures below. They're from the Kroger at Ashton Place in Charleston. Police say almost immediately after the purses were taken, the suspects went on a shopping spree through Charleston---at the Kroger, Wal-Mart, and even a bank.

But the catch here: police say the suspects called the victims almost immediately after the theft---and pretended to be the bank, asking for the victims' ATM personal identification number (PIN). Two of the three women gave them their PIN.

Police say the suspects got away with more than $1,500. They appeared to be driving a newer model silver Pontiac G6. If you can identify or have any information about these women, call the Charleston Detectives at (304) 348-6480 or 348-6400.

Police urge you to NEVER give your personal information to anyone who calls you. If you initiate the call, they urge you to be careful, but say that's the only safe way to give information over the phone.
