It is too big a part of history in our area to ignore the significant news item of the day.
42 years ago to the day the area saw one of its bigger tragedies, an eyebar-chain, suspension bridge built in 1928 collapsed into the Ohio River. The bridge's collapse full of rush-hour traffic killed 46 people.
The investigation told us a few things: it was a small defect a tenth of an inch deep, it also showed the bridge was carrying much heavier loads than designed for in 1928 when it was built. The report also mentioned the bridge needed better maintenance.
Question:
What area bridge collapsed 42 years ago killing 46 people?

Silver Bridge
