KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Ten people were hurt during the weekend in a crash between a pickup truck and four other vehicles at the intersection of U.S. 60 and Quincy Hollow Road, Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies say.

Signs of illegal drug use were found in a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 29-year-old woman from Campbells Creek. She and her five young children were among the injured taken to Charleston hospitals. The kids range in age from 8 months to 11 years old.

The crash happened about 2:30 p.m. Sunday when the woman in the Silverado pickup truck struck a vehicle stopped in front of her at the intersection. The impact caused that vehicle to hit another vehicle ahead, resulting in damage to three vehicles besides the pickup truck.

Four people in the other vehicles also were taken to Charleston hospitals. The extent of the victims' injuries was unknown.

Deputies say one of the substances found in the Silverado pickup truck appeared to be heroin. That substance is being tested at the West Virginia State Police Laboratory.

There also were concerns about the use of child safety seats in the pickup truck, and Child Protective Services is investigating.

As of Monday night, no charges had been filed in connection with the crash. Anyone with information about it is asked to call the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department at 304-357-0169.
