15-Month-Old Child Found Unresponsive in Pond at Eskdale Home

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The Kanawha County Sheriff's Department is investigating an incident where a toddler was found unresponsive in a pond.

According to a news release, the 15-month-old infant wandered out of the sight of her parents while they were working in the yard at a home in Eskdale. The incident happened about 8 p.m. Monday.

Deputies say the mother of the girl found her in the pond unresponsive. The parents of the child and others performed CPR before she was transported to Women's and Childrens Hospital in Charleston, according to the release.

As of 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, the child was still listed under evaluation at the hospital.

Asccording to the release, the investigation will be presented to the Kanawha County Prosecuting Attorney.
