CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Two people in Kanawha County have died from complications of the flu.
The director of the Kanawha-Charleston Health Department tells WSAZ.com that two elderly people died in the last 10 days and both were flu-related.
The department doesn't keep track of of adult flu-related deaths so there could be more deaths that haven't been reported, according to Gupta.
Dr. Gupta says flu cases have spiked since December and the numbers haven't peaked yet.
There are plenty of vaccines available in the area and experts say anyone with respiratory problems, the elderly and children are urged to get the vaccine.
Dr. Gupta tells WSAZ.com everyone is urged to wash their hands frequently and sanitize everything to keep the virus from spreading.
