CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Hospice is “Going Green”. That is the Hospice Care Building.
They are getting some renovations that may be a trick for the eyes, but is a treat for the environment.
What you see was once something else. From the ceiling tiles to the walls to the carpet made from Coke bottles. Even the studs to support the roof were recycled from old cars at the junk yard.
All of the office spaces are on perimeter walls, which means there’s natural light to keep them out of the dark. That also means a lower electric bill. This will help the plants too, reducing their need for water and the water bill.
The project manager took a class on building “green” in Washington DC and brought the ideas with him.
The total project was $4 million.
