Report: Unemployment Down in Much of West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Unemployment is down in most of West Virginia's counties.

Figures released Friday by Workforce West Virginia show unemployment rates decreased in 53 counties in March.

Unemployment rates in Brooke and Ohio counties were unchanged.

Calhoun County's 18.6 percent unemployment rate was the highest in the state. Monongalia County reported the lowest jobless rate at 6.0 percent.

The state unemployment rate fell by eight-tenths of a percentage point to 10.1 percent in March.
