KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- WSAZ.com has obtained the 911 calls made earlier this month when a plane crashed into a mountainside in eastern Kanawha County.

Lazarus Sommers, 50, and his wife Maryann Sommers, 56, of Millersburg, Ohio, died in the crash.

The crash happened about 5 p.m. April 11 near Riverside.

In a 911 call, a witness said, "I just saw an airplane. It was a small plane. It hit the top of the mountain. I know that sounds crazy, but I saw it. It did a complete loop in the air, and it slammed into the top of the mountain. I don't know if it was an unmanned plane, but it was getting way too big to be a remote controlled airplane."

It took crews nearly two hours to find the wreckage.

Federal investigators with the NTSB released a preliminary report this week, saying that Lazarus, the pilot, was flying around bad weather at the time of the crash.

The wreckage has been moved to a secure storage facility to be further looked at by investigators.
