CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- Verizon Communications says it's planning to hire 240 full-time employees in West Virginia.

Verizon says the jobs it announced Tuesday pay from $10 to $31 an hour. They cover a wide range of work, from sales to customer service.

Verizon says applicants should be willing work all shifts, including holidays. The company says prospective workers can apply online at www.verizon.com/careers.

The West Virginia Public Service Commission is weighing the proposed sale of Verizon's land lines to Frontier Communications, part of a deal that includes 14 states.
