CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man accused of holding a prostitute hostage is now in jail.

Charleston Police say Jeremy Peters picked up a woman along MacCorkle Avenue who told him she would have sex for money. When the woman got into Peters' car, she wanted to go to her house, but Peters insisted they go to a hotel, according to court records.

Officers say Peters then pulled out a gun, locked the car doors and started driving. The woman was able to take the gun away from Peters and then jumped out of the moving car, according to the criminal complaint. She was taken to the hospital.

Peters is charged with kidnapping and wanton endangerment.
