KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- State Police have made an arrest in connection with a robbery at the 7-Eleven in Rand.
Police say James McCune went in the store Tuesday night and demanded money.
Investigators say he went around the counter and cut the cashier as he was getting money out of the register.
In the surveillance video, you can see a knife in his right hand as he approaches the cashier at the register. He says something to him and then the cashier opens up the drawer and the suspect starts to take the money out.
State Police say McCune was picked up on a capias when he was hitch hiking along Route 60 near Campbells Creek about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday. The capias was for an unrelated misdemeanor charge.
He now faces a first degree robbery charge in connection with the incident at the 7-Eleven. McCune is expected to be arraigned on the charge Wednesday morning.
Just before 10 p.m., a man walked into the store, pulled out a knife, demanded cash and then took off.
Troopers said the man cut the clerk with a knife as he was emptying the cash register.
Troopers said they know who the suspect is; they say his name is James McCune. They are currently searching the area for McCune.
