Posted: Thu 12:56 PM, Nov 15, 2012

UPDATE 11/15/12 @ 1 p.m.
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- Power has been restored to several hundred customers following an accident Thursday morning.

The accident was reported just after 7 a.m. along Chestnut Street in South Charleston.

The driver, John Williams, tells WSAZ.com his pick up truck hit a patch of ice and spun around several times before it hit two utility poles.

Williams also told WSAZ.com that there has been a leak on the road for while now and it has been causing trouble.

"That ice has been there for two weeks, so I didn't think it was quite that slick, obviously. And uh, my biggest fear was the power lines over the top might fall on the truck," said Williams. "The water company, they have been advised. They had a wreck here yesterday morning as well, so I don't know why they don't fix the water leak."

Williams was not hurt in the crash.

Traffic lights at the intersections of Chestnut and MacCorkle Avenue were out, along with lights near the intersection of Chestnut and Kanawha Turnpike. All lights are functional at this time.
